At what age do siblings of opposite gender need seperate rooms? My son is 15months and my daughter is 4months

We have an extra room but my husband is currently unwilling to give up his office space.

Well you're hubby needs to mature and realize having kids means making sacrifices. I know when we have our first baby, our 2nd bedroom - currently our wonderful, comfy computer room - is something we're going to have to just give up. We only have two bedrooms right now, and we can't afford to move currently. But with one baby we will make do, will have to move the office into the laundry room or convert our garage into another room. But if I had two kids, opposite genders, I don't know what we'd do. Tough question. I don't think a state can MAKE you not allow two siblings opposite genders not share a room - unless the state is going to pitch in and pay for a bigger house for you. But you don't' have this situation, you have two bedrooms, so really, time for hubby to grow up and make a sacrifice! Move the office to the laundry room, the bedroom, the family room, etc You'll make room. Good luck! :)

In about 3-4 years your husband is going to have to give up that office, or you are going to have to move or add an addition onto the house.

The state of Missouri Department of Social Services says that opposite sex children need to have a room of their own by the age of 2 years.

If I remember right, by the time your son is 3 or 4. You could check with the local housing authority or with the Department of human service.

You've got awhile, if you want. I shared a room with my brother until I was probably like 9. Changing and stuff can always be done privately in the bathroom, but as they mature, you will probably want to have separate rooms.

Once they hit a few years old.

When my oldest reached the age of 3 I put mine in seperate rooms.

I think developmentally and safety-wise seems sweet and kind to share a room till about 7 years of age....I never imagined that state boards would tell parents when to seperate children!

Every situation is different, but as for NEED, probably age 8 or 9.

they should be in seperate rooms by the age of 3 or 4.

I have heard that by age 5 they start to realize the differences, but have known kids that share a room for longer than that and no harm done. So you have a long time to worry about it. Your kids may give you clues too, probably wanting their own rooms.

i have 5 kids and well all though comfortable for them certain situations may arrise at a certain age and curiosity will arrise and if younger siblings are in the atmoshere then they are hearing or seeing the cuiosity of the others so i say from experiece
please seperate them by the second or third grade ..this way they have already been in school too and have a since of seperation already ..and you know even if boys !!! they gt curious at a certain age together so if you have boys in a room or girls in a room ..just watch them and pay attention!! they do get curious haaha once i walked in and my boys ages 6 and 7 were playing shot gun ..so it took along talk ya know ..but all kids get curious and if they hear somthin anywhere or see somthin they will experiement so the best thing is a goooodd eye and earr from the parents and yes 6 and 7 or so to seperate different sexes ..but remember even same sexes get curious ya know is yours the same as mine and so forth hahah so take care and just be there all the time or try too hahahahahaha

If you rent some state require that opposite genders be in separate rooms at 5 years old. Some states also have a two per room law too. Now would be a good time to plan ahead for a new office area for your husband. If you own your house you could start saving now for an addition for a new room or maybe put money away to buy a bigger house. If that is not an option your husband will have to give up his office in about 3-4 years. Your husband will have to get used to the idea.

ha ha ha
I found it funny to read that some states actually have laws about this..
anyhow in the past whole families slept in one room - heck in some countries people even do this today.. and infact in some poorer areas of the USA they still do this..
I would say before the oldest is 5 years...

dang your kids were born close together - I hope your tubes are tied now...

I AM NOT SURE BUT I THINK ITS BY THE AGE OF 4 OR 5 IT MAY BE LESS NOW A DAYS. I PERSONALLY THINK IF U HAVE THE SPACE THEY SHOULD ALREADY HAVE SEPARATE ROOMS. TELL YOUR HUSBAND SORRY ABOUT HIS LUCK IT'S A GIRL AND HE NEEDS TO GIVE UP THE ROOM OR GET A BIGGER PLACE (hee-hee).

I have 6 other siblings (four I have taken care of) I have made them (twin bro. and sis.) have their own room at age three. They need their own room so no kind of weird action goes on.

when they are about 5/6 years old

They are find for now...Give them a year or so and your selfish husband will have to give up his office or buy a bigger house so they can have seperate rooms and he can have a office

i have always thought it inappropriate for children of any age to share a room unless they are of the same gender

it is uasually by law i believe 6 years in between
