If somebody commits a crime and nobody notices, is it still an injustice?

For instance, in the movie "Office Space" the protagonists plan to steal a fraction of a cent away from each transaction which over a period of years would lead to an income of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Also, I have notice that the company that I work for rounds the paychecks in their favor. However, nobody notices and when I point it out to them they don't care. Is that still an injustice?

wise counsell, I did confront the company, and the confrontation did not go well. They told me that I was nitpicking and that if I didn't like it I should find another career.

it would still be injustice because it still affects other peoples lives even if they dont know it..

yeah...do you not have a conscience?

Well yes, the fact that if somebody was to notice they woiuld be charged gives this away, it doesn't matter how big or small an injustice is...

By the way putting up with your companys rounding ask for the value of the rounded cents to be added up and paid annually, or finish work a few seconds earlier each day and see what they say they've allready set a precident.

Of course!
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. ~MLK Jr

Sounds like your office is just asking for a lawsuit!

For a long and detailed answer to this question, I suggest you read the book Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

For a quick answer: If there is a somebody that does a crime there is always at least somebody that notices, and that is the criminal him/herself. Everyone has a conscience, even the most messed up, most evil people in the world do. Now, they may not always act upon it, but the technical answer to your question would be yes.

Oh - and if the company you work for rounds the paychecks to something miniscule, like to the nearest dollar, then don't bother risking your job for something, as they told you, very nitpicky. Now, if it's by like 10s, I'd understand your point. But don't try to be Mr. Right if you don't have to be.

If someone can pull off something like that, then more power to them. If you figure out a way to scam something like that, I'd gladly donate a fraction of a penny from my paycheck. A really, really small fraction.

Injustice is injustice: common sense not nitpicking, only see!
And they're making money on people's money, injustice!
They scare employees with " go somewhere else " and we need the job. But if the whole of people talk at once, they would have to pay with a good fine. Don't you think?

Yes, it is an injustice. But just as you experienced if it's small issue people won't bother or think you are being picky. If it's a couple cents i would let it go and not get in argument, but if it is truely worth the fight i would bring it up.

How wonderful it is to have some perspective, dear. After constantly asking yourself what direction your life is going, doesn't it feel great to finally feel as if you know? How very wise you are! Yet all this recent wisdom is exhausting. You feel as though you've made a long trip up to the mountaintop to speak with the learned wise person at the top. Now that you're back down in civilization, it's time to find a soft bed and relax for a bit.
