Are you a Realtor agent with Century 21?

Is it worth it to be an employee? Do you have to pay for office space, computer use, and etc.?

As a Realtor, you are typically not an employee, you are an independant contractor.

Each office is independantly owned and operates differently. At my office, I do not pay desk fees.

When you are shopping for an office, I suggest you put several on your list. Some offices are very laid back and some are very competitive environments, and everything in between. You have to know where you will thrive. If you choose an office that doesnt fit your personality, it doesn't matter whose name is on the door, you will be miserable.

Ask about everything that will cost you money. Business cards, letterhead, signs, E&O insurance, postage, desk fees, franchise fees, advertising, training - all of this could come out of your pocket. So it is best to get this all on the table when you are making your decision.

People will tell you that it doesn't really matter which office you choose, as you can change offices on a moment's notice, and you can. But you have the potential to lose listings and clients when you change offices. And if people see your face with this office, then that office, and yet another office, they may think you are unreliable. So I think it pays to choose wisely in the beginning.
