Does anyone have good ideas on fundraising/donations for abused adults&children? |
Looking for funds to open a shelter, and also real estate(homes for abused, office space for organazation and/or second hand store strickly for abused families) cars, motorhomes, clothing, personal hygen supplies, food, soap, anything a person uses on a daily basis and for people of all ages and walks of life. avon has fundraisers for anything that could be a start. we/they could set up a fundraising sellathon for you. make or have a yard sale/ garage sell. have the kids sell candy. go to a warehouse buy bulk candies and have a sell. sell drinks and cookies and water and whatever the neighborhood kids like There are several ways & various ideas you could use. We have a thrift shop that recieves clothes,furniture, etc as donations. The workers are all volunteers. The money goes to help our needly. If you need clothes you can pick out a few outfits and shoes for free. Homes that were burned get free household stuff and clothes, etc. The store does so well that it also has a scholarship each year for 1 or 2 seniors to use for college!The prices there are the most resonable you will ever find! Adult jeans and dresses are $2, shirts,shoes,skirts,kids outfits,kids jeans,etc are $1.Furniture and household items are 10 cents to a few dollars. I bought a new recliner in there with the tags still on for 40 one time and that is the most expensive I have seen in there. If our small town of about 2400 can support this store this well I think yours could to.The abused women could work there too as they are preparing to go out into the workforce.It would be a good self-esteem builder,be a job skill to learn, and also teach them to help others. You know the saying about on your way up don't forget to reach behind you and give someone a hand to follow.Because you probably had a hand also.Best wishes and if I can help let me know! I have done musical fund raisers and talent shows. Our town has had hamburger meals on the square to raise money for ppl with cancer or burned houses, etc. Where there is a will --there is a way! I'm sure there are many grants out there. I need to look into opening donations as well. Get affiliated with local churches.. Or possibly even go to a local church and ask questions. I'm sure they have to know some information. There are always churches taking donations for many reasons. |
