If I buy Microsoft Office 07, do I need to manually delete 03, or will it simply integrate? |
I don't want to waste space having both programs, but I am unsure how to remove such large programs either. I loaded it last night and have both versions. With the size of hard drives, space should not be a problem. Be certain to run cleanup utilities and defragged often. ALWAYS create a restore point prior to loading any programs. I think you can get an upgrade instead of the whole version. I think it is a little cheaper too. Check you local store. go to start>control panels> then click on add or remove programs then look for Microsoft office 2003 and uninstall. will not integrate into eachother. 2 different programs. just go to my computer then to control panel then to andd or remove programs. then find microsoft 03 then select it to uninstall Get OpenOffice its FREE and compatible with MS office. No need to pay the MS tax. In the control panel, there's a programs and features icon where you can click to uninstall the various programs you have installed, including Microsoft Office, if you have Vista. On an XP OS you still go to the Control Panel, but it'll be named something else, but still pretty obvious that it's for uninstalling or modifying programs. Uninstall from there. i think it just generally overwrites --- but why bother --- check out open office --- its as good (if not better) than Microsoft Office --- can read all the files and is available free as part of the Open Source movement --- you can also go to Add/Remove programs to delete it ---- have fun whether you simply upgrade or install the whole thing, the higher/newer version will simply overwrite the lower/older one. I just installed MS Office two days ago. During the installation you get the choice to upgrade the previously installed version or install the new version along side the older one. There is no reason to do this unless you do technical troubleshooting for people using the different versions, but if you do, make sure you only have one version of Outlook installed or you'll have problems. |
