Word and office taking 20 minutes to load...?

...slight exaggeration.. its more like a full 5 minutes though. my computer is newish with plenty of space ram etc, i tried repairing, uninstallig then reinstalling and its still slow... it never used to be slow, and when it does eventually open it had problems opening files.... what should i do?

...ah what was with the fat comment? i might also add that my computer has lots of music and audio books on it... but no junk, i am a big deleter. also installed avg anti-virus and anti-spyware... nothing came up... very confused...

Something seems to be very wrong with your computer. Maybe, you have a virus or a worm, trojan - made a virus scan and also scanned for spyware on your computer?

Otherwise, a new installation of your system sometimes might be the best solution. Your computer probably is overloaded with too many files, trash, etc.

Download the free CCleaner and delete all crap and unneccessary files on your system.
And also download the free & good "Wise Registry Cleaner" - that software deletes registry errors on your computer safely...It can be downloaded here: http://www.download.com/Wise-Registry-Cl...

Greetings from Germany

PS:
A good & free antivirus software is available at http://www.free-av.com
And also search on Google or Yahoo for Lavasoft and Spybot - two free & good spyware scanners.

I'm no computer expert, but I seem to be able to fix any problem I come across on my comp. If you don't have any problems with your RAM and you've uninstalled word and re-installed it, I'd say first thing you want to do is sweep for viruses. If that's still not the problem, the only thing I would do (and I'm kind of anal about keeping a clean computer free from programs I don't use and programs that don't work) is wipe your comp completely and start fresh. It might seem drastic, but it is like getting a new computer. Wipe off windows and reinstall it, along with all of the programs you use on your computer.

Warning: this is like starting over, which involves re-installing all your programs and hardware (like your printer). It does take about a day to complete, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you don't need your computer for a bit. And make sure to save everything you want to keep!!!

Sorry if this doesn't help you, just giving you an option!
