Can someone sue you for identity theft/fraud because you filled out a job application?

Here are the details:

My husbands kids agreed that they would do a summer job they had done two years ago if they couldn't find another one before summer. I filled out the applications online for the kids. There were no signature spaces on the form, no social security numbers on the form. Their mother called tonight and said she had filed 6 counts of felony fraud and identity theft against me because I put her name on the job application and filled them out for the kids. The only line with her name on it was the one asking the name of legal guardian and I put my husband's name and her name in the same space - it was not a signature space.

Can she really have these charges filed or is she just being malacious? Don't fraud charges need to be brought against me through the Prosecutor's office?

I am calling an attorney tomorrow but I thought I would see if I could get some feedback tonight - maybe direction to legal code that I could read up on this.

Should I be proactive and file a cease and desist order - if that is even something that exists? Or should I just wait and see if anything even comes of it?

Having custody issues I will assume.

No she can't, first she can not file any "counts" or charges,

He can file a police report ( who would basicly laugh at her,but have to take the report)

They would then question you on it.

Next what proff do they have you did anything.

She is just lying trying to scare you and trying to prove she can effect your life.

You need to tell her off and some other words a priest can't use.

Also you need to have your husband explain to her to leave you alone.

This is an example of a EX trying to keep causing trouble,

She may have filed a complaint with the police but the DA is going to have to screen the case to figure out what, if any, charges will be filed. There has to be intent and it has to be proved.

It sounds like she might have made a police report against you - people always think just because they filed a report someone is going to jail. I can't understand how rational people would think that the police would not conduct an investigation; they can't really think we are just going to go arrest someone b/c they said so? Alas, people are really that narrow minded sometimes. If she did, you will probably be contacted by an investigators soon.

Remember that often people bluff other people to try and get them to do something or hurt them emotionally. Could be that too.

If she filed a civil suit against you - for I don't know what, but anyone can sue anyone now days - don't worry until you actually get served w/ papers, then immediately contact an attorney.

she is being a *****, and you can tell her i said so..anyways i would not waste your time with an attorney, she could go to the police but they will not do anything, tell your husband, he should be able to fix this, i am sure she did not do anything, just empty threats.

Sounds like the Ex needs to be medicated. What could she possibly get you on??? Filling out an application? DA is not going to waste time on this. Grab the kid and run... And get EVERYTHING in writing. Good luck.
