How do you get along with a complete B!T@H at work????
I work with this girl. She is 26 and I am 24. We work in a small office of only 9 people. I see myself as a good judge of character and from day one I could tell this girl had an "all about me attitude". Well, I was right. She got mad at me one day b/c I change my lunch time to an earlier time, so she moved hers up into my space and then I ended up not going early. So, she said I ruined her lunch plans that day and has not spoken to me since. This was like 3 months ago. When I approached my supervisor about it, she told me that this girl was just trying to see how far she could push me. WHAT?! Nothing has been done. This girl acts like she is my supervisor and shes not. And she has pulled crap like this with everyone in the office. Shes ALWAYS talking about someone behind their backs and shes the most racist person I know. I want to leave b/c of her, but then again, I don't want her to feel like shes "WON". I know I should ignore her, but its hard to in such a small office. Any suggs?

You know what, you're right, dont leave, because she'll feel like she's won. You should stay there, and act nice to everyone, and bihchy to her, and then she"ll be at the other end, and will want to leave. Don't take any crap from her, always think of the smarter thing to say to make her feel dumb! Act independent, and don't rely on her, and if she talks to you, talk to her back, because the will surprise her. So, you should talk to her if she wants, but act like your her friend whatsoever! GOOD LUCK!

I stuck it out in a similar situation, but she was just too bitchy and I hated going home in a bad mood, and it made me hate my job. I quit and I am in a much better place now and happy, I am sure she says she won but eff her. I won because I am happy!

Honestly just ignore her at all cost and if you do have to be contact with her be nice as pie, because the more nice you are to some one like that, the more it bothers them and really gets to them, it's like giving her a rope to hang herself

If you were to leave, you'd never completely escape the problem co-worker situation - they are everywhere you go. Just stand up to her and let her know you are not gonna take her crap. She'll back down after that. It doesn't sound like your supervisor is gonna do anything to help you, so this is the only solution I see. Good luck!

I know that it is frustrating but you have to be the bigger person. Which can almost drive you insane!! But try to treat her with kindness and pray for her! Yes, you heard me right! If you be kind to your enemies and pray for them; God will make them your "footstool". I know b/c I had to do it myself. I pray things get better for you.

say what you mean and mean what you say my policy is don't say anything behind someone back that you wouldn't say to their face, tell her about herself just what you think and why you aren't going to put up with her crap any longer tell her in simple English F*^K you and the house you came in on. then walk away, I am a very direct person, every one i work with knows it so we all get along real well. grow a back bone and stand up for yourself. Thats how I would do it but I must say Anna A has a good point as well i guess you need to deal with things in your own way.

Just be Sweet & Precious and never complain about her at work or anything....you never allow her to think that you don't like her.....it will Piss her off.......but then she will soften and you will see that it's just a shell.....a farce. :-) Been There.

just do your work. she probably likes to bother you because she knows it gets to you. how do you react when she acts like that? it's that reaction that she wants. just stop caring. if she starts getting on your back again just shrug it off and say something like "aw.. that's too bad." and just continue to do your work.

in my old job we would treat people like that as if they were a child having a hissy fit. they got sick of the "aw poor baby" responses and just shut up.

Sounds like this girl is actually a miserable person. Don't let her bother you and just let all this roll off your back. Show no concern and yes, ignore her. Even though it's a small office, try practicing "selective" hearing. Engross yourself in your work and don't stress over her behavior. Someday it will bite her in the butt. What comes around, goes around.

I've been in your exact situation! I got through it by just minding my own business and doing my job well, knowing eventually she's gonna go down in flames and I'm not going with her. It took a long time but she got canned, and I got her job.

Ugg.sounds like it sucks to go to work! First I am sure everyone in the office knows she is a B**ch, second, do not let her know she annoys you, one good thing about us women, we can give as good as we get. Not saying be nasty, just saying stand up to her , look her straight in the face and say what ya need to say ( doing it politely and with a smile). don't let her think she has the upper hand,once she knows you are not intimatated by her, she will back down, but keeping in mind you don't want to stoop to her level.

Remember it's HER problem. Seriously.

I found a saying once. "Some people are like slinky's: not really good for anything, but you can't help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs". (No, I am NOT recommending pushing her).

Get a slinky, put it on your desk. When she pulls stupid/rude things, pick up the slinky. Refer to her (in your mind) as Slinky.

When she tries to act like your boss, just laugh and walk away.

And don't let her get to you.

Apparently, her work expertise exceeds her personality. Do your best at your job, try to be considerate of others,(changing your plans more than once may ,indeed ,put others in a bind), and try to solve your own personality clashes without involving your supervisor. It is a supervisors job to get the work done, not mediate personnel problem, real or imagined. If the person in question offers racist remarks, tell them in no uncertain terms that you don't want to hear that kind of thing, then go do your work. Good luck.

Know that she's like that to everyone, so it has nothing to do w/ you, or your behaviour towards her.

She's not talking to you? Good. Keep it that way.

If you have to talk to her, just be calm, confident, and friendly but neutral. If you don't care what she thinks of you, or what she does, you won't engage her, and she should leave you alone.

The trick with bitchy people, is to be confident, but without crossing the line into being aggressive. That way, you're neither a target (for being a wimp) nor a threat (for being scary to them.)

Did you ever see "The Dog Whisperer," Cesar Milan, (on Nat. Geo, I think)? His techniques work with people, too. Calm, confident, and friendly, without aggression or over-attentiveness.

PS- If she trys to tell you to do stuff, like she's your boss, say: 'I'm not your maid!'/ 'Do it yourself!' -or- 'How much are you gonna pay me [to collate those TPS reports]?'/ 'Nothing? That's not enough!' -or- (said in a way that makes it clear you're joking) 'You're too bossy! I don't like you... do it yourself.'
