PCOS...4 weeks pregnant!!...What are my chances of keeping this pregnancy?

I was diagnosed with PCOS three months ago and started Mtformin two months ago. I just got a BFP yesterday and I'm excited and scared at the same time. I know PCOS is PCOS, but can the severity of mean your chances are better or worse. I've had two live births (a 7 yr old and a 4 yr old) I never had trouble concieving and both pregnancies were Perfect!! Pretty much when I wnted a baby...I got one. Last year I concieved again...Right Away!! But it ended up being a blighted ovum. My cycles have spaced out a little bit (35 days) but I do get them regularly. I currently take 1500 mg of Met. My doctor told me I will take it all nine months of pregnancy. What are my chances of having this baby? I'm looking for experiences ore then opinions, but both are appreciated

Believe it or not, PCOS does not necessarily cause miscarriages. PSOS is more commonly known to prevent a woman from getting pregnant, not miscarrying, so you have a very very good chance of having a healthy pregnancy.

PCOS increases your miscarriage risk to as high as 60%. Small studies have shown that taking metformin for at least the first 12 weeks can reduce your miscarriage risk to that of a normal person. I have PCOS and have had 2 live births and 3 miscarriages. I'm now 9 weeks pregnant and on 1000mg of metformin. So far things are ok. Good luck

While PCOS may slightly increase your risk of miscarriage, there is no reason to think that this pregnancy won't continue. The fact that you miscarried last time doesn't mean you will this time.

First, I'm so sorry about your loss. Second, congrats on your new pregnancy! I also have PCOS. I conceived my oldest with lots of trying(13) and had an uneventful pregnancy. When I remarried 7 years later I conceived very easily but had a blighted ovum, I conceived again within 6 weeks and had a miscarriage, I conceived again within 2 1/2 months and had a third miscarriage. With the next pg my OB checked my Estradiol and Progesterone levels weekly with a blood test (every Wednesday). They were both low and he gave me a script for supplements. I went on to have 2 more beautiful children this way. Best of luck to you!
