Relattionship issue?

okay here's the deal, tell me what you think about this.
i met this guy. he seamed to like me, i liked him. gave me his number, and we have been talking for about 3 months. he told me in the begining that he didn't want a girlfriend right now becuase he is 'unstable' but i really like him. we have tried to hang out recently but things have came up. it sounds weird but i really don't know what to do. it's like im holding on so tight i can't give him space and i know that's what he needs.
is there any tips/advice out there to help me give him a little space but not too much? what do you think of the situation?

I know you don't want to but, you need to be dating other people. First off, this keeps you busy and keeps your mind off him so much. Also, it lets him know that you are the prize and if he wants to win it, he'd better get it together.

My rule is, never ever ever wait around on someone who tells you they aren't ready for a relationship. I've always found that they are, in fact, ready for one...just not with you.

It sounds to me like he wants a friend, not a girlfriend. You want a boyfriend. It's not going to work if you want different things. If you aren't ready to give him the ol' heave ho just yet, tehn keep him around as you have been for a bit...but keep your options open. And say yes to other guys if they ask you out. You deserve to be with someone who wants the same things you do.
