What to do when you're Co-Dependent & your partner has GAD?

I've been dating this guy for a few months. We had great chemistry from the start and we became close friends before we dated. We're totally compatible and have lots of fun together no matter what we do. The problem - he has generalized anxiety disorder/depression. Apprently we met when he was finally getting better but now it seems the better things get b/w us, the more scared he gets. So he's gone from telling me he loves me to barely being able to say the words & cringes whenever we talk about the relationship or I say I love him. He's still sweet and loving & I know he cares for me a lot, he's just terrified and he's admitted that to me. The other problem - I'm co-dependent (says my therapist) & I've become so absorbed in his issues that I'm feeling like I'm obsessed & anxious. I see the signs so I've taken a step back and am focusing on myself for a while. We're still together but I think we both need space. Not sure what to do now tho...

We can't tell you what to do in your relationship, because chances are, you've already made a decision and you want someone here to say it so you can feel validated. But what you can do is to get some of your own work done in therapy to help with your co-dependence issues.
