Why won't this game run on my system? I meet all the recommended requirements. Please Help!?

I'm trying to play GTA: San Andreas on my computer, and even though it does play, it has slow frame rates of about 30FPS, and that even drops to about 10-15FPS every couple minutes or so. Anyway, here is my system.

-AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.41GHz
-500-Watt PSU
-16x DVD Drive
-200GB HDD (85GB+ Free)
-2GB RAM
-Windows XP Media Center Edition
-Realtek HD Soundcard
-8500GT 512MB DDR2 @ 1280x1024--65Hz

And now, here are the recommended requirements. Not the minimum requirements, but the recommended requirements.

-Pentium 4 or Athlon XP
-CPU Speed 2GHz+
-384MB+ RAM
-Windows 2000/Windows XP
-128MB DirectX 9.0c compliant video card (GeForce 6 Series)
-Free Disk Space > 4.7GB
-16x DVD Drive

And other video card stuff which I have all of...

-3D Acceleration
-128MB RAM
-HW Rasterization
-Video HW Transform & Lighting
-Vertex Shader Ver. 2.0 -- I have Ver. 3.0
-Pixel Shader Ver. 2.0 -- I have Ver. 3.0

Andso I have everything. Why won't it play?

Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it!

BTW, I play at the following settings.

1280x1024x32
Max All Settings
3x Anti Aliasing

Thanks again!

ITS YOUR VIDEO CARD! It isn't the best around, so take that anti-aliasing off and turn the settings down a bit. Yes, you may have the required 12mb etc etc, but your 8500gt doesnt have many stream processors and a poor clock rate, pretty much not designed for "maxed out settings". So drop the settings or get new decent video card starting at 8600GT or GTS for performance in the long run.

It should be running fine with those specs. So I would say a couple things to do are to go into your task manager and cancel all non-essential programs prior to playing and get a virtual drive program that way you can bypass you DVD drive. You will need a no cd crack for it, you can find one at the following page.

I have ran this game on my PC just fine my specs:
2.66Gz P4 CPU
768MB DDR RAM
Ti4200 Nvidia with 128MB

Make sure you update to the latest drivers for your video card. And how does your computer run other games? You might have a cooling issue, virus issue, too many things running, etc. if you are experiencing this problem in other games. Also search for any information on your processor, I know some 64bit processors won't play games right unless they have a fix installed.

1. Set the Anti Aliasing off, see if it performs well.
2. if it doesnt reduce the resolution. to 1024*768, im sure u dont want to play anything below that!

All it said was min requiement to run the game at god knows what resolution and what FPS!

Remove Norton antivirus, its a known system resource hog.

If not get a new videocard.

I take it yours is amd athlon 64 X2....dual core

Did u install AMD
