If we kept going up into space, would we eventually meet a deadend?

If we kept going up into space, would we eventually meet a deadend?

If we managed to keep on going then we should; due to gravity end up where we started. But due to the speed we would have to travel at I don't think the universe would still exist by time we finished our journey. So if we managed to avoid the big crunch! we wouldn't know we had finished our journey.

If someone knew, they wouldn't hide it from the rest of the world just to post it on Yahoo! Answers.

no..... space is endless..... according to scientists theory's.

hummmmmmmm i dunno, fancy takin a trip. i'll get me coat.

If we rely on the expansion of the Big Bang theory, that is possible, but if there are as many (or more) cells in our brains as there are stars in the Universe, as a whole, there is a chance of going to another place...it's out there we just have to look. what am I saying, I am no adept Astronomer, it's possible and then it is not. I don't know, I can only provide vague validation here.

Sorry.

No, there's a wall. But if you break it and keep going, eventually you'll find another wall. But if you break it and keep going, eventually you'll find another wall. yes - your life span. you can only get about a light year away with the current technology before you die, a very dead end wouldn't you say?

I don't think so. It's not like the Truman show where you get to the edge. You would probably go on forever. Freaky!!

The Universe is expanding at the speed of light. As we can't go any faster than the speed of light, we will never hit the edge.

Astronomers believe that space is curved. Imagine it like travelling on the Earth. You can go and go and eventually end up where you began because the Earth is curved.

In the most recent scientific publications they report that scientists and astronomers have detected objects out in space at a distance of 40 Billion Light Years in all directions from Earth. Significant new Star Clusters have been reported at 13.7 Billion Light Years distance. All of this was done using the most sophisticated optical and radio telescopes built by mankind. So, unless you are prepared to travel 40 Billion Light Years, you won't hit the ceiling any time soon.

Notice that 13.7 and 40 Billion Light Years is not the "end" of space...That is just as far as our equipment can see. So, in all likelihood Space goes on for at least another 40 Billion or so Light Years, which is one heck of a huge distance. Also, from Earth to the most distant space probe that we have out there is only something like 5 Billion Miles. That is not even vaugely close to the 6 Trillion Miles in one light year.
