I want to be closer to him but my boyfriend wants to have some space.?

Me and my boyfriend have been together 4 month and lived together but he said he wants some space and we have decided to live separately only meet weekend in the city and not going back to the house together. It really hurts my feeling because I want to be together with him but I also want to respect how he feels and I don't complain.

What should I do? Should I just wait some months and live separately? Or should I just say how I feel and that I want to live with him?

He says he loves me but we had fight so much when we lived together. He says he loves me and sometimes even cries.
