Should we be able to sue the parents of the kids that become prey on My Space?

Some parents are suing My Space, blaming them for the predators their kids met on the internet. I say it's the idiot parents that should have been on the ball, keeping their eye on the kids. Do you think they're just looking for quick money?

No, you shouldn't sue, but parents really shouldn't have kids under the age of 15 on MySpace. Seriously, Parents need to pull it together. MySpace really should shut down.

Yes, they are just looking for quick money, but that is what happens when you live in a litigious society.

I think suing MySpace is a cop-out. The parents, kid, and predator are to blame. Perhaps the parents should get their butts off the couch and be more active in their child's life.

i dont think their just looking for money, but they're probably not happy about their kids getting attacked online. and yeah, i do agree that the parents should be monitoring the kids, and the kids that have the myspaces should watch out for themselves. theyre smart enough to go find codes and stuff for their myspaces, you would think they would know predators are out there and what to look out for.

Suing MySpace is like suing the city for building parks at which predators lurk, car makers for making the vehicles in which they make their getaway, or dog breeders for providing cute little puppies that can be used as lures for children.

Parents are responsible.

I don't think that any parent has the right to sue over what they should be monitoring themselves. Kind of like sueing FX tv because they show adult programs.

The problem is is that most kids know more about the internet then their parents. A parent needs to take the time to learn how to protect their children and learn the dangers of the internet. I spy on my 15 year old niece because I know what I'm doing here on the net. My sister has no clue!

Times will change when the younger generation starts having their own kids.

Well I just have to say that it is partially the kid's fault. Yes tehywere victimes but it's like walking through a bad neighborhodd!!! I have yet to hear of a case from MySpace that the kid hasn't talked to the preditor and met with them!! Even if they thought they were their age, or soemthign they still gotta be careful!!!! i say don't sue the parents, it's punishing them for another person's crime. They have some rights to sue. MySpace does need to fix its site.

I think that they shouldn't be allowed to sue myspace, and like you said they should have monitored their children and their children's online friend more carefully and take steps to prevent their childs profile from being available for just anyone to see. My daughter (that is a pre-teen) has a profile that I check DAILY and before she can invite a friend, or accept an invitation to be some ones friend she has to check with me, and get my OK. And if I tell her no she's not allowed to invite/accept some one I tell her why and that's where it ends. My daughter isn't even allowed to be on the internet unless there is an adult in the same room.

How many times do you have to tell these stupid parents that there are preditors on my space? And to keep kids off of it? People that allow kids on there should be blamed. Maybe someone should become rich from a lawsuit because that would end it.

This is just another example of parents not taking responsibilities for their own kids. You would think that if they have the time to sue somebody, they would have the time to supervise their kids. If they succeed at this, then it's time for some drastic measures in our courts.
