What's the best way to tell someone you need your space?

There's this guy I've recently met. Ever since, we've been talking for hrs. about things iv'e never even thought about. He's opened my eyes to things i never thought about. However, I feel like hes movigng too fast. I know hes falling for me. He's indicated it several times. I don't fall easily for ppl,but im starting to seriously want him 2,but i need my space u know? to make shure its not an infatuation. ive tried diff ways to let him know i like my space. Like saying that im not a mushy person, he even gave me a cd with alot of romantic songs, and i said i liked it,but iacted like i was really in2 roamnce music (not true) so neways my q are there any other subtle ways i could approach this or shoudl i just come out and explain it. i thnik coming otu woudl be awkward.what would u do?

just have a heart to heart conversation with him if he respects you like you say then he'll probably understand. In a relationship honesty and trust are the two most important factors, so you have to be honest with him and sop pretending, because that will get you no where at all. Maybe tell him something like this..."i like you alot i really do, but sometimes i just need my space, you know to make sure things are great between us, your an awsome guy and i wouldnt want anything to mess our relationship up. I hope you understand, sometimes i just need some me-time, just like everyone else, dotn worry im not leaving"...it doesnt have to be exactly that, but thats a good place to start. This situation doesnt seem that hard, and im sure taht you could work this out. And in the end you'll be happy that you did. Much creds to you for claiming your space, thats a lot of risk to loose your love. But dont worry, im, sure things will work out just fine.

just tell him your not the type of person that can be around someone 24/7 hell get the hint...

Tell him "I'm going through a rough time right now (even if you're not), and I need some alone time to gather my thoughts. Can we take a break on this? I don't wanna lose you; but I need my space for awhile till I can go through the healing process." Even if you're not going through anything, this will give him a heads up that you want space....from him.

Just tell them to back the f*ck off.

Just tell him you think that the two of you have been around each other to much and you still waqnt to be friends with him but need some space to sort out where this friendship is heading

Be straight up.

"I like you and at the same time I feel I need space for myself by not getting involved in a relationship. Maybe some time down the road but for now lets enjoy our friendship."

Do not lead him on. You want some resentment in the future? Do not give him a reason to. Always be yourself.
