Best way to tell your parents that you need some space???

My parents are extremely over protective of me. i am 16 years old. i know they are only being like that because they love me.

but my problem is they dont let me hang out with friends or go to their houses unless they've met theire parents. I cant go to a party or they'll freak.

Whats they best way to talk to them and tell them how i feel and explain to them that they need to let me go sometimes because im getting older and i need more space??

First off, tell them. Tell them that you need space because you are older and more mature.

Second- this is perhaps the most important, SHOW them that you are mature. DO your part around the house, get a job, excel in school, and make them believe that you are a young adult.

Just sit them down and talk with them and if they refuse to listen. Just let them know that they are forcing you to rebel.

i think u should tell them how u feel in a nice manner without freaking out. and watever they say goes. Don't argue and act like a parents pet. (if u r not one already)

Show you appreciate that they actually care about your well being and all that stuff. But get them when they're actually listening, and propose the idea that you're not as vulnerable as when you were 10 anymore. Say that you'd like a little leeway on their restrictions, etc.

That worked for me. My parents have lowered their rules for my friends, but I let them keep their overprotectiveness in concerns to boys. It lets them know they still have a part/control in some part of my life. :)

But if they freak out, maybe you should just stick to what you have. heh.

Write them a letter. Hopefully things will become clearer to them once they see it in writing. It may help them to understand how you are feeling and how the over protectiveness is affecting you. If you decide to write them a letter, make sure you try to express how you are feeling. Be nice and polite and make your point known. Let them know that you don't want to start telling lies just to have some space. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

mum dad, i know u love me and i love u to but i'm 16 and i need some space. i need u to know that someday i'll leave u to live my own life..if i dont learn from now how to be independent, i can never succed in life. don't u agree..? hope u'll understand.
