Would you pay for playgroup space in someone's home?

I was thinking that it would be a good business idea to rent out my toddler playroom for an hourly rate for people to meet for playgroups. Would people actually pay for something like this? I'm thinking of people who live in small apartments or don't want to mess up their house - or something for kids to do when the weather isn't good for outside play.

I would have activities and craft ideas for different age groups and the caregivers would have to remain on the premises with their children. I'm sure the liability would be similar to day care but I would be providing space and activities only, not childcare.

The only way I think people would pay for something like that is if you had art supplies and fun stuff for them to do and take home. I would be careful doing that, however, because if a child or parent gets hurt on your property, you could be held liable. Signed releases may not be legal in personal injury liability claims.

I'd think you would open yourself up for huge liability by doing this. But hey worth a shot right?

yes if i have to

honestly i wouldn't. it would be hard to draw the line with friends. maybe if you did it as a business and kept it that way but other than that i think it's a bad idea.

I think that if you were renting running and watching the kids for play group and maybe having a friend or someone assist you it may work but to rent out the space naw prob not and thats just because one theres the park schools and at least one mom out of the group will offer up their home expec to save money the only way i can see it working is if its dirt cheap and you all have some sort of activities planned but you may for your own protection do it with people you know. thats another thing too i dont know how people will react to comming to someones home that they dont know for play dates . do it by referral and who knows i may see you on tv talking bout how much money you made renting out one room for kids!

nope, sorry.

No. There are parks, spray grounds, restaurant play areas, mall play areas and so many free places to go, I'd never pay. Plus, most playgroups are free and members take turns hosting at their home, so why pay to go to someone's house?
