there is a myspace whore train tool that you can use to ask a ton of people and everyone of their friends to be your friend, I'm not to certain how to work it seeing how I've never used it, but the interface looks fairly simple.
If that doesn't work for you I would just suggest browsing profiles and asking everyone you see to be your friend...

It's most likely that you're profile is on private as you are 14, so people can't add you. Change your age to 99 or something thats what I did. =D

You might also try and get your mate to join and get them to put you in their top 8.
