I have a 14 yr. old daughter that has 10 diff, entities from 14 thru 19 yrs. old on My Space,com along & pic |
My daughter thinks that just her friends and people her own age are viewing her personal items and pics,some scantily clothed. She must not realize that thousands of pedafiles and perves are also viewing her personal vulnerabilities that she has immensely listed. she must not realize yhat some of those she communicates with could very well be aged adults posing as teens, even with a false teen picture as a profile. Her mother does not seem to be concerned and has no knowledge of computers or how to block these sites. I just hope that some perve doesn't lure her to meet them at a mall and she end up in a shallow grave in a field somewhere! I/m divorced and live 1000 mi. away. They say they are really good at working with parents to keep their kids off that kind of stuff. Just read the FAQ's and if it's not on there contact them. How does she do it? HOw does she even check them all? One would hope that you have another fatherly concern to block the sites you don't want her on. You also have the ability to take her computer from her or at least the internet. The computer is a great tool, but I don't believe its a necessity especially since she doesn't need the internet to get her homework done. I too have girls...and I would not have any trouble at all in taking them off of the internet...in a heartbeat! 鈾?yes there is... you can actually demand her password either from her or the site and have it permantely deleted... just go into the account settings I believe and go to cancel account they will then email a form to continue to her email address... or if you dont want to go through your 14 years old email the people of myspace directly by going onto the site.... good choice in being concerned about this, theres a lot of freaks out there... Good luck 鈾?/div> I would say it wouldnt be easy to stop her from viewing these sites, but i would talk to her and explain what might happen, maybe show her couple movies where teens were kidnapped by perv who pretended to be in love with them etc. Have a very long chat and provide the information she would need. If I am correct you can check out http://www.cybertips.com . They are qualified to help in that matter. As far as myspace yes anyone can see ones profile and pictures. But as was said myspace does monitor these sights. And from what I read in a news article there is a source trying to make myspace safer. |
