My attic has 1/2" spaces that are good for air flow in MO temps. But am I susceptible to bats entering? |
The spaces are only where the roof meets the attic floorboard. Certainly there must be some kind of soffit vent that would keep the bats and insects out of the attic. You would be able to see these from the outside of the house. From inside the attic, you should be able to see light filtering in along the edge of the roof. all those openings should be screened with mesh (either plastic or metal) It will keep hornets from setting up shop up there as well as bats and birds Put a screen mesh over the opening. A safe and simple solution, get some metal screening material and put over the area and tack it down with some small nails. Bats or other things can't get in. I say used the metal because the other stuff will be chewed through. This way your not blocking the air flow. |
