How to convince my friend to return back to school?

I'll start way back in elementary school my friend was a neighbor who my momma took in until her mother and step-father work out their marital disputes. Well she left him and they went on and moved away.

I met her again in high school and she said she was doing O.K. now that she stays with her biological dad. Well I'm a senior and she was suppose to graduate last year but she was short 1 1/2 credits and she given up. Her dad told her she is to finish high school or she couldn't live with him. (He said that to make her go back, of course he wouldn't kick her out) but she ran away to live with her grandmother, Our school requires the minimum of 4 classes, I told her to come back and take them but she refuses. I told her at least take the 2 classes she need and schedule PE for the next 2 class periods and the coach will let her leave to go home, but she refuses. How can I convince her, my momma would take her in again but we are having financial problems and we don't have room 4 her to move in, and yes she can retake these classes either semester but if she comes now than she can still graduate with class of 2008.

she might think it's hopeless to do anything extra because she couldn't make those 1 and half credits last time. But when she grows up, she'll look back, and everyday she will probably regret not taking that last opportunity. I've seen many people who wake up every morning, wishing they had a chance to go back and change what they had done. To have worked harder, taken that opportunity and make use of it. Education shouldn't be taken lightly. Nobody said it was easy, but education is essential if you plan on making the most out of your life. Sure, there are plenty out there that have the smarts, yet don't do well in school. However, the more education, the more doors life will open to you. She may not get a second chance!

Not a lot you can do if she is determined not to go back. You could try asking her what she wants for her future and how she intends to achieve it. Maybe then she will realise that her only choice is to complete her schooling. In the long run she is the only one that can make the decision. As her friend all you can do is stick with her and be supportive whatever she decides.

Tell her to think about her future. Is her principles more important than her diploma? Really, people who don't graduate from high school earn $1 million dollars less than those who do. She needs to stop thinking about how much she hates school and those problems. If she wants out, she needs to get a career. Many jobs won't hired people without college diplomas, much less, high school ones too.

Talk to her and tell her how important finishing school is.

She has come so far to just stop. I think her refusal to come back, may be due to the fact of what other people would say and think and that's a tough thing to handle sometimes. My son wouldn't have graduated unless he got another credit so he took his course through the mail from the college while he also finished his senior year. It was difficult for him and I had to keep him focused which some times was a battle. If you could explain that this one year is only a portion of the years she will spend regretting NOT finishing her credits if she fails. She needs to know that what she is doing is for herself and she should never allow other people to influence such a serious decision as this one. She needs to know she is important and getting an education is one of the privileges we have in the USA that can make her life so much more easy.

I hope you the best and hope she does decide to go back. My son is so glad he did and she will be too.
