I was watching a documentary about air force one about what is in. and how it functions and stuff. Ive noticed that it is like no other commercial airflight. Like they have beds, chairs, meeting rooms and stuff.
Anyways my question is. how come they have tvs in rooms and phones to use.
In use commercial airlines no phones and tvs are used. bcuz it could interrupt communications. How about air force one. wont tv and phone communications affect the plane or their communications. so what is it. have you ever been on a commercial plane??
haven't you ever seen those little phones in the seat backs that you swipe your credit card and you can make phone calls on
as far as the TVs
what do you think that you watch your in flight movie on??? Air Force One is called by that name only when the President is on board.
That being said, the plane is an airborne Oval Office when the President is flying. He needs to have communications equipement, "rooms" for confrences and sleeping facilities for long duration flights (overseas). The communications equipment is installed with no interference with the aircraft's communications. This is what is called secured communications links. Commercial airliners are designed to get people from point A to point B as safely as possible. Any civilian tv or telephone equipment is not "finely tuned" and bleed-over could interfer with the aircraft's electronics. not to worry.
Air Force One has one of the most sophisticated communications systems in the world. All of the electronics are hardened and encrypted.
Actually, they are only designated "Air Force One" when the president is on board. All other times they use their tail codes. phones dont interfere with planes because if they could then that plane wouldnt be safe enough. they just want to be safe, you know TV is a receive only device, it does not transmit, it does not present a problem.
The phones on the back of the seats are "radio telephone" using an antenna on the outside of the aircraft. This does not present any problems inside the craft.
Some commercial airlines are showing Direct TV now.
They watch TV because they want to keep track of the news.
They use phones because they have spent a little extra on the avionics. All it takes is some cheap metal shielding inside a piece of Nav gear to keep it safe. A lot like the crazy people in movies wearing tin foil hats. A little metal and a good ground to the chassis and bida bing it is fine. All it takes on the laptops is some spray on shielding inside the plastic case. As long as it is grounded to the chassis of the computer transmissions don't venture more than a couple of feet and inbound interference is greatly, if not completely eliminated.
The problem on commercial aircraft concerning cell phones is that each phone can transimitt several different frequencies. If several people are using phones the inside of the craft is melting pot of problems for the Nav gear. The Nav gear IS the problem and the WHY in why not use a cell phone. Frequencies mix, and things such as a empty soda can start xmitting yet another frequencies. Next thing you know the artificial horizon is spinning, the ADF is pointing at the wrong beacon or no beacon at all.

PS: Chips that can survive a nuke blast were invented in the early 80's. It's all a matter of shielding. Think of it as a sophisticated wrapping of tin foil. That is the laymens version, but no sense in writing a "war and peace" doc to explain it. I researched the topic, but I鈥檓 with you. I indeed found out that there are many computers, TVs, faxes, phones and lots of other communication devices on Air Force One. Now, the thing is that most of the specifics of Air Force One are classified. For all we know it could have an expensive device in the hull or on board that counter acts the electromagnetic forces that come from those devices.
It says in an article that I read,
"It has heavy shielding is tough enough to protect the wiring and crucial electronics from the electromagnetic pulse associated with a nuclear blast."
Now after reading that, you may notice the words,
'Heavy shielding... tough enough to protect the wiring and crucial electronics'.
They must have shielding of some short around the 'crucial electronics' that protects the instruments in the planes that can be affected by such devices (mobiles, TVs and so on).
Why you can't use Mobiles and such in a normal plane is totally a mystery to me. Maybe the shielding is very expensive or has to be adapted to suit an air craft and they can only be bothered to equip it to Air Force One, but I really don't know.
So by the article I read, I believe that they shield the crucial wiring so that TVs, Phones and so on, don't interfere the planes control.
I hope this helps. You can read more on Air Force One at the following source. |
