Is it possible to be autistic but still look pretty normal to society? |
Unlike most autistic kids I have great social skills and can make friends with almost anybody. I have read up on some of the traits that autistic kids have and some of my charecteristics seem to be very similar, for example I hate beeing touched by anyone including my loved ones and close friends and I get the feeling that i am suffecating when someone does so. Eventhough I love my boyfriend I hate to cuddle with him and the thought of it almost brings me to tears because I hate the feeling. What should I do to fix that seeing as it causes my boyfriend and I to have arguments because unlike me he likes to cuddle. I also hate change and like to keep things the same. Although I get along with people and even won class clown at my high school, I dislike meeting new people and sometimes I think I would be much happier with my life if I was alone in a closed room where no one could come in. I also can't stand certain noises like the vacum cleaner and am easily irratated by little things that normally do not annoy most people (someone moving the steering wheel to fast or slamming on their brakes). What is wrong with me? definitely. there are different levels or degrees of autism. some are more extreme. some people can be mainstreamed into society and some cannot. Have you ever been to the doc about this - did you have problems during childhood - is there anybody in your family that is autistic. I think it would be helpful to visit your doc. There are varying degrees to all forms of psychological conditions; it may be that you suffer from a lesser degree of autism or asperger's. Simply be open about your idiosyncrasies and if people are worth your attention, they should respect your boundaries. |
