My mom fell at the airport and broke her bone....?

Is she entitled to any compensation from the airline? We had a connecting flight and had to move it to next day; and we took our mother to the emergency. Airline refused to provide the taxi voucher to/from the hospital. And I got $30 off voucher from the airline for the hotel room for that day (since the next connected flight was next day). The airline customer rep did not help me. I asked for the taxi voucher; he refused. Later, he admitted that airline will give the voucher for my Mom only for the taxi service. But, he said that we need to wait since his supervisor was in a meeting. We waited for long time and each time when I asked to speak to his supervisorr, he stated the same. We were at the airport for long time and my mom was in pain, so I just took her to the hospital.

Can my mom get any compensation for (i) Taxi service from the hospital to the hotel (ii) Hotel room cost (iii) reimbursment for the medical bills from the airline?

Thanks

Your added costs are related to your mom's injury, not to anything the airline has done. The injury could have been the fault of the airline if there was a danger they were responsible for. But if she tripped over her bag or fell for some reason having nothing to do with airline negligence, then she really is responsible for everything. I know you want to find out the best way you can get paid by someone else for your misery, but if it is not their fault then they should not pay.

I am sorry to hear about it. It is always hard to travel when you don't have enough strength or not that strong. I don't like the disrespects from any airline companies, if they make inconveniences for customers like your mother. I am not expert in laws or anything else except understand it is important to see to that parents are being taken care good of. If your at home, just see and talk to the local lawyer to see if you have the case. Hope your mother is doing okay.

Was there water on the floor? Was there something in the way that she tripped over? Is your mother just older and fell?

If there was negligence on behalf of the airline or airport, then she might be entitled to compensation. However, if it was not, why should she get compensation?

Would she be entitled to money for her injuries from the builder of her house if she fell in her own home?

I hope you can. I'd say you get a lawyer or something or ask for free legal advice first then go from there. I'd imagine if the place in which she feel was somewhat harzadous in any sort of way, you would be able to claim something but I know nothing about legal matters so it's best to ask someone that knows about this kind of thing. Good luck to you and I hope your mum gets better.

Unless you filed an accident report. NO.

And even if you did it would have to be the airports fault due to something like a bag left on the floor-that was already processed which is very unlikely.

I don't know the circumstances but I've never seen anyone trip and fall at an airport. I've found airports to be very spacious and free of trip-enducing obstacles.

Your Mom broke her bone...? Does she have only one bone...? Do you realize how silly this question looks (that's why I answered it).

In all seriousness, you'll have to be more specific about the situation for anyone to give you any advice. What bone did she break? How did she do it?

(i) Probably not. (ii) I doubt it. (iii) No. Unless the Airline was Negligent in some way (& You have EVIDENCE to prove it), it'll be VERY HARD to get compensation for your Mother's injury. Sorry. :(

This sounds like an accident to me. Why would the airline be responsible? It was nice of the airline to do what they did. Is there health insurance or medicare? Get over it - that's why the word accident has that meaning.ConnyL

Did your mom fall due to the negligence of someone or something at the airport? If so, I'd say you possibly could get some compensation. If not, I seriously doubt it.

Unfortunately, yes, she will probably get a ton of money awarded by a jury of idiots.

In reality - should people get PAID for being clumsy?

I'm sorry that your mom got hurt but why would you have the airport compensate? Can't accidents just happen?

The WHOLE idea of any airline (or airport) compensating anyone for an injury.. depends on one critical question... WAS IT THEIR FAULT THAT MOM GOT HURT??
Your question talks about everything, but that one thing.
Public places such as airports have insurance to cover such things, but I am sure that it needs to be determined if their insurance is liable for what happened. The normal thing would have been for them to take a report of exactly what happened, and go from there.
I may be wrong.. but the simple fact that she fell AT the airport, is not always going to mean that they are responsible.
I hope mom gets better.. falling and being hurt is not fun. But no one here can give you the full answer, unless they know BOTH sides of the story, and other factors.
