Have you ever met anyone who reminds you of someone else?

My first language is not english, so I'm sorry for any mistakes.

3 years ago I lost my dad.

1 year after that, I found a guy in a chat room with a strange name, and I talked to him. To my surprise all his answers were the exact same answers that my father used to give me, even his personal jokes, even the music and specific songs that he liked, even his ability in mathematics and many many other things. I spoke to him for a year, and every time, I was extremely surprised and touched: How on earth can this young boy (he is 3 years younger than me) can be so similar to my dad????

Finally I met him, and thank God he did not look like my dad! But everything else was the same. I NEVER told him this, and he believes that we are just friends or maybe he even likes me. I cannot explain this situation?? Is my mind playing tricks on me?? PLEASE help me find an explanation for all this. Has anyone had similar experiences ??? Only serious answers please!

I don't think your mind is playing tricks on you. I believe that sometimes people come into our lives for a reason. This boy's friendship is a gift to you, something to remind you of the love and closeness you had with your father. Enjoy having him in your life and knowing that the things that made your father so special are still alive and well in the world.

Many years ago, I lost a very, very dear friend to a circumstance that was terribly painful. Two years later, I got a new Spanish teacher who reminded me of him so much that at first it took my breath away. His voice was exactly like my friend's, they had the same eye color, the same sense of humor, the same ability to be compassionate and kind, and although there was a pretty significant age difference between the two, in a small way it was like still getting to have my friend around.

At first it was a little confusing and a little painful, but in time I was glad of the reminder. It helped me to realize how far I had come in my grief process, and it was a comfort to know that even though I would always miss and love my friend, there could be other people in my life who possessed the same qualities I loved so much in him.

Enjoy your friend. Enjoy the reminders, and know that you are blessed to have such a gift!

You could say it like, "In some ways, you're a lot like my Dad. Having you around helps me not to miss him quite so badly." I don't see how he could be weirded by that. Report It

Your English is fine :)
But, the world is very weird. Sometimes we meet people that are like us and other times we meet people that remind us of someone else. The point is that nothing is original, it's how you use what you have that makes you original.
If you stop comparing him to your father then he will seem less like him.

I hope this helps.

first of all your English is excellent!
I think that the world is a wonderful and strange place. I think that you should stay friends with this guy. he might be able to help you out one day. Just be happy that you have met him and let the rest fall into place.

sure it happens all the time

he could of been your dad in a new life
