Should the Democrats thank Scott McClellan for FINALLY revealing the truth about the war?

鈥?McClellan charges that Bush relied on "propaganda" to sell the war.

鈥?He says the White House press corps was too easy on the administration during the run-up to the war.

鈥?He admits that some of his own assertions from the briefing room podium turned out to be "badly misguided."

鈥?The longtime Bush loyalist also suggests that two top aides held a secret West Wing meeting to get their story straight about the CIA leak case at a time when federal prosecutors were after them -- and McClellan was continuing to defend them despite mounting evidence they had not given him all the facts.

And McCain wants to follow Bush's agendas and stance!

No more McCain

Joan: That is the stance the Republicans are taking now. Whenever someone stands up and tell the truth, they ALWAYS the person is lying or incompetent. Scott McClellan was with Bush for a long time. If he was a bumbling idiot he would have been fired a longggggggggggg time ago.

Yes, but Rep's will say he lied to sell books.

Who knows what amount of truth he speaks? He is a former employee looking to cash in big with a book- could it possibly be that he'd sell everything and everyone down the river to get money? or that he sees a sinking ship and decides he can save himself by misrepresenting what he saw?

Just saying- dont go jumping in head first like a lemming

If he said everything was great- you'd label him a liar just as blindly as you now label him a saint- that tells us more about you than anything else

Not really, Bush's approval ratings are the lowest of any president so how much lower can they go. McClellan owes the american people an apology, if he knew all of this why didn't he speak up when it was happening? I'm sure he's telling the truth, that's why they let him go. He refused to lie for them anymore. I find it amazing how many idiots still think iraq was part of 911. People bought that crap and still do. Not one member on any of those planes was an iraqi.

Most democrats knew the truth before this. I respect anyone telling the truth. I can smell a rat from a mile away so I knew about Bush before he was ever elected. I can also smell McCain so I wish people would come out with the truth about his war story now not after people's lives have been lost & our economy further in ruins because of him.

It would have been a lot braver and more helpful if he had done it before thousands of American and tens of thousands of Iraqi lives had been lost. Now it just sounds like whining.

But I'll agree with you on this - absolutely no way is a Republican getting into the White House this time unless Abraham Lincoln rises from the grave!

LOL....do you really think this will have any bearing on anything? I'll bet you even think that Bush didn't know about this book coming out. Every single page was approved by the white house. No wonder people think liberals are dumb, you people keep on giving us the evidence that proves it.

There's nothing new in McClellan's allegations. The only difference is that he was part of the White House inner circle. I think McClellan's book will have greater impact if it contains information not already known, such as what Jeff Gannon (gay escort and fake journalist) was doing at the White House.

This dude got fired for doing a crappy job. Now he's writing a "tell-all" book to gain notoriety and cash....I don't know why anyone would take this book for more than what it is - crap.

More people are killed in America by illegal immigrants than in the Iraq war.

Your savior Osama wants to give them drivers licenses! Hurray!!

Not really surprising. Most people now know that Bush's "war on terrorism" was fake and "misguided".

McClellan has revealed nothing that you couldn't have read about from Bob Woodward.

And John McCain didn't show up in his book.

I think every American should thank him. He's come out finally and has written an extensive inside look on the thorough corruption of the current system.

No, it was something that we in the educated community were already aware of... This is just confirmation that this administration should be IMPEACHED....

Wow, talk about a stretch. Did you actually put together that "chain" of thought yourself or did you borrow it from a Schizophrenic?

The american people, not limited to one party should thank him

They'l thank him by throwing this in McCain's face for the next 5 months.

Scott McClellan needs to have a statue built next to the Washington Monument.

who says for sure it is the truth...none of us really knows!

Here are the quotes I've accumilated concerning this issue:

"The president's real motivation for the war was to transform the Middle East to ensure an enduring peace in the region."

I didn't know that was hidden.

"Bush's national security advisers failed to help him fully understand the tinderbox he was opening. I know the president pretty well. I believe that, if he had been given a crystal ball in which he could have foreseen the costs of war 鈥?more than 4,000 American troops killed, 30,000 injured and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis dead 鈥?he would never have made the decision to invade, despite what he might say or feel he has to say publicly today."

So, McClellan knows more about Bush's thoughts and what's on his mind better than Bush himself?

"The confidential meeting also occurred at a moment when I was being battered by the press for publicly vouching for the two by claiming they were not involved in leaking (Valerie) Plame's identity, when recently revealed information was now indicating otherwise. 鈥?I don't know what they discussed, but what would any knowledgeable person reasonably and logically conclude was the topic? "

He doesn't know what they discussed. Again, he's speculating.

"McClellan stops short of saying that Bush purposely lied about his reasons for invading Iraq, writing that he and his subordinates were not 鈥渆mploying out-and-out deception鈥?to make their case for war in 2002."

In short, despite all the assumptions of McClellan's book, he really hasn't told us anything concrete. Only his takes, feelings, and suppositions. I'm sorry, but this guy was a press secretary. He wasn't privy to anything other than what we already think we know. His book is not that revealing, in my opinion. It feels like sour grapes to me.
