Guinea pig travel...?

im hoping to bring my newest piggy to fathers day to meet her grandparents :) my parents live about 50 miles away and i have a small cage for her that has more than enough room, but i wanted to know if anyone knows if there's any certain precautions i need to take and or if you think it will traumatize her. she's fairly new to the family, me and my boyfriend bought her about a month ago. she seems to be pretty comfy in the car so far cuz we've taken her on rides.

Hello, I suggest you take your guinea pig in a cardboard box lined with shavings and/or hay. In a little dish put her feed and bring along a few treats such as apples and carrots to feed her during the journey. If you can, try to give her lots of water before the journey to keep her hydrated. Make sure you have lined the bottom of the box well so if she uses the bathroom your car won't get wet. Well matters what car you have.I have a Lexus and that type of car had PLENTY room in the trunk>Its safe because its not like she locked up somewhere dark.I Jut place her in the back (whole cage) or in the backseats with towels under her.

High water fruits and veggies like cucumber good to give on long trips. They are VERY susceptible to heat, so you cannot, under any circumstances, leave her in the car when it is not running with the AC on at all times.

fifty miles sounds like a long car ride. guinea pigs can get dizzy and carsick or sometimes the temperature in the car is to warm for them. there are hot or cold gel packs that you can freeze in the freezer then will become somewhat like ice. iT would be best if you had onr of those. freeze it for a day then let it defrost for 30 minutes so it's cool but not freezing. then wrap it in a small towel. If your guinea pig is looking hot and tired, you can always put this in her cage.
water. it is very important to have an extra water bottle ready to go because if the water runs out in your waterbottle, your guinea pig can become dehydrated.
i have relized that my piggies love to have fruit on a car trip because it's refreshing and cools them down. i usually give them pear, apple, or water mellon rinds cooled in the frige for aa while. so if ou have a portable cooler, have some pre'sliced fruit ready to go .
if your guinea pig has not been on rides this long, i would not sugest you take her on this one. If you bought her a month ago, is the still a baby? how old did you buy her. because ut's not healthy for guinea pigs to go on long trips let alone a baby guinea pig. and for that long of a car trip, i would sugest you bring at least a 1 foot by 2feet cage so your cavy can still run around and excersize.
