Having conversations by myself?

i'm almost 18 and ever since i was very little i have these conversations alone but i make up some one else and talk to them. i know for sure that these people are not real and they don't resemble anyone i know. I some times spend hours in my room talking like this, but I never talk like this when i'm out or when anyone is around, not even my parents.
I was very lonely when I was small and still i am, I don't go out much because i have no permission but i always love to go out and hang around friends. i prefer that way more than just waiting in my room , which i have to end up doing on most days. or if i go out other than school i go with my parents so most of the people i meet are like my parents age so i dont have anyone to talk to most of the time. Could this be why i make up imaginary friends or should i seek medical help?

I dont think you have a medical problem, its just hat you seem to be alone alot.
Try asking your parents if you can go out with friend more often, or invite friends to your house.

Well many ppl tend to have conservations with themselves its not unusual, i do as well sometimes

You know why u r doing it as well, like u said, u feel lonely

Just try to find some good ppl your age and invite them to your place

make sure u introduce them to your parents, so they know who u hang out with

try to make use of the time, learn about other cultures religions etc, do something by your hands

discover your potentials

I think it is okay I do this too all the time. It is actually a really useful tool for getting to know yourself and different aspects of your psyche. You might want to try reading up on Jungian Theory!

This is the drill, when you start talking about crazy stuff like flying grapefruit you should see someone, but if its just an innocent conversation than is normal.

I think its ok too,because i say lots of people who do that. They mostly do it because they have no one to play with.

If you are actually seeing these people you may be schizophrenic. There is no reason to be embarrassed about that but I would advise you to tell your parents or someone you trust . So many people are misinformed about schizophrenia and no knowledge brings fear, I would start by telling your parents if you trust them . Go to webmd and type in symptoms and you can get more info for when you talk to your parents or counselor. Good luck honey.
