Cat is acting funny after meeting stray.?

Yesterday I was briefly taking care of a stray kitten until I could take her to the humane society. I have two cats of my own, and while one was fine with the kitten being in the house, the other freaked out the entire time. I knew she was feeling threatened and I figured she would be fine once the kitten was gone. But now it has been almost 24 hours since the kitten left and my cat is still very angry. She hisses and growls every time I try to come near her. She hasn't eaten or used the litter box (that I'm aware of). I tried bringing her to the area where the kitten was to show her she was gone but she yowled and hissed and ran back into my room to hide. This is so unusual for her, she is usually very sweet and laid back. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to help me get her acting normal again. By the way, she is about 2 years old and she is fixed. I don't know if that makes any difference. I'm getting really upset and frustrated, I want my sweet kitty back!

I agree with the other 2 comments! Scents lnger for awhile, even though you can't smell them. She probably knows that the kitten isn't there, but because the scent it, she is going to react until it goes away. When I take one of my cats to the vet and the other one stays home they get the "vet" smell too. So when I bring him home, the other will hiss and growl for a couple of days until that particular smell is gone! Silly cats!
I think your baby will be fine, she just needs a couple of days to see that her world hasn't be destroyed! lol!
So the only thing I think you should do is wait it out. I know its frustrating though, but she'll get over it. :o)

She's probably just reacting to a strang animal in the house. It may take a few days. It's very cool that you did this, though!

PS - It's similar to what you might notice if you ever take one of your cats to a vet. Often, when the cat comes back from the vet, the other cat will hiss and growl, sometimes for a few days!

Oh she will totally get over it. The cat's scent is probably still in the house and she's mad you gave another strange cat attention. Give her some treats and just ignore her. She will come around.
Cats hate it when you ignore them. That's whey they are all over people that hate cats/.

.She's mad at you! It will take a few days for her to calm down.
