Wedding Head Table Seating Arrangement?

The woman at my venue just told me that the Dais table can seat up to 14 people. Note that I have seven (yes seven) bridesmaids and he has 5 groomsmen. That would be absolutely perfect. However...

But where to seat the dates? That would add six additional people, which there is no room for at the head table. Would it be horrible to have the dates seated at different tables? All but one of the dates would know plenty of other people they could be seated with (ie their own families). And that one extra would probably be fine meeting people...

Or should I just suck it up and do a cheesy sweetheart table?

I would actually rather the dates sit at tables with their own families and not at a "dates" table. Like the best man's wife can sit with the her husband's family who she knows, instead of with a bunch of strangers...

Does that make more sense?

i am seating the partners who know other guests with other people they know

the partners who don't know anyone are being seated together and with a few other ppl who are super nice
so i know they will all get along very well!!

after dinner everyone will mingle and move around. no worries about anyone being lonely lol

When you look at it from the angles you are now, it makes sense not to have everyone at the same table. If you let the wedding party sit wherever they want it will draw more attention to you at the head table alone with your husband and break down the wedding party/guest barrier. I think it sounds like a great idea. It just doesn't seem to work well any other way and now ALL of the guests will mingle together.

Personally I don't care for a sweetheart table....but that's just me. I think it is traditional to not have their dates sit at the table actually. You could do a table where all their dates sit together, I mean really they only sit together for dinne rand everyone can get up and move and talk. Also, you could sit the date table next to the head table so they wouldn't feel secluded or lost? Good luck! Congrats on the wedding!

Don鈥檛 put your attendants dates at the head table. Why not seat them all together unless they have family or close friends in attendance? I don鈥檛 know how big your reception will be so that you could get this detailed, but tables for our friends were set up based on who we thought would get along with each other. So if you think your best鈥檚 man鈥檚 girlfriend might get along with Rachel from your office (just an example) put them at the same table.
