Would you go to a Sunday wedding out of town?

My fiance and I are getting married on a Sunday in March, in the town we met in, which is a different town that his family AND mine are from. The town our wedding is in, is 2 and 5 hours away from everyone of our guests....

Do you think people will not come to our wedding since it's out of town and many of them will have to take Monday off of work and school to come to it? And people will have to get hotel rooms to come. Do you think people will leave the wedding early so they can get home if they don't want to get a hotel room???

Would you go to an out of town wedding on a Sunday? If you have kids would you excuse them from school for a day?

I think it depends on the time of your ceremony and reception. I have been to weddings where it was 2 hours away and people left early in order to get their kids to bed, get into bed themselves, or they simply didn't want to risk being sleepy on the drive home. If it was a close friend then I would probably take the next day off work. Some people do not have the means to get a hotel room however and if they live 5 hours away it will make it more difficult for them to come. It doesn't mean they love you any less. As for excusing kids from school it would depend on how close you are to the person. I would do it for close family or my best friend but thats pretty much it.

I would say that to compensate for the out-of-town issue, have the wedding at a decent time (say 2) that way for the people who can't really afford (or don't want) to stay the night there have the option of driving there and back on the wedding day. If someone in my family chose to do this, of course I would go to their wedding! It's your choice where to have it, but be prepared to have people complain to you about the drive..

We are getting married Sunday the 6th of july.\
I live at least an hour away from most of my guests.
Everyone loves a wedding and are making the best efforts to be there.
I have a girlfriend from another state, taking a long weekend so she can be there. Another friend giving her kids a day off school so she can be there.
I have visitors flying in from two different countries.
I think if people care about you, they will make the effort to be there no matter when you have your wedding. Good luck, and plan your day the way you want it to be.
