Is this a good way to teach work ethics?

my father recently got remarried to a mexican woman who he met over the internet. long story short, she has 2 children that are much younger than i am. i didnt agree with the marriage right off the bat, however, i have found that these 2 kids can be quite useful. they do not speak english, but i have been getting them to do all my chores for me. they do anything--take out the trash, clean my room--even do things that i wouldnt do like clean the toilet, and scrub the floor by hand. i have been re-imbursing them for their work in the form of monopoly money. they think it is real american currency--dad told me that i need to stop doing this because it is wrong, but i think it is a great way to teach them good work ethics. also, they seem to enjoy working for me. is this wrong? i am afraid it will hurt their self esteem and work ethic if i stop paying them to do stuff---they will think they are doing poorly or something and i fired them. do you think this is inappropriate?

Inappropriate is not the word I would use for this arrangement. Disgusting is more what more what I thought.

You are trying to justify you horrid behavior by saying you are teaching them "good work ethics." You found them to be "useful" because you're too lazy to do your own chores and you objected to your father marrying their mother.

Think of how overjoyed they must be - their mother marries someone in another country, they can't speak the language, and they become the slaves of their step-sibling.

Pay them real money if they continue to do your chores. And help them - start teaching them some English. You may find you like them. This will help their self esteem more than cleaning the toilet.

Who the heck do you think you are? What do you mean if you fired them. You aren't thier boss, your not even paying them real money for their work. This is unethical in more ways than one. Needless to say it's absolutely inappropriate. Other than just sitting here shaking my head at this ridiculousness I don't know what else to say. Get your head out of your a** .

No. You need to pay them (not very much) in real money. Pennies or nickels will do, but they need to have real payment for their labor.
