What does it really mean to 鈥渉ave a life鈥?

I remember those insecure high school and even college days when it was so important to 鈥渉ave a life鈥?or to 鈥済et a life鈥? I was not a Christian then, but I was in pursuit of this 鈥渓ife鈥? When I had a less than 鈥渆xciting鈥?weekend, others would speak about how I didn鈥檛 鈥渉ave a life鈥? and I felt like I was missing out on 鈥渢his life鈥?that others apparently had. But when I 鈥済ot a life鈥? and went to parties, bar-hopping, chasing women, etc...I reached the same conclusion as Bill Cosby. Have you seen 鈥淏ill Cosby Himself鈥? It is hilarious. In any event, 鈥渉aving a life鈥?apparently means going to a really loud bar jammed packed with other humans with the whole placed filled with smoke. You can鈥檛 really even hear yourself over the music or live band, but find yourself screaming into the ears of your friends or people you meet...so that they can hear you and scream back in your ear. But it is all meaningless jabber, superficial niceties, or mindless chatter about the weather, sports, or sex. You drink lots of beer, get sloshed, and are forced to go to the bathroom several times to urinate and/or to puke. The next morning, hung over with a headache and exhausted...you waste it away by lounging around your dorm room or house in a stupor...eating Doritos and watching TV. 鈥淲onderful鈥?drugs may or may not be part of this 鈥渓ife鈥? which somehow allow an escape from this 鈥渓ife鈥?to that 鈥渓ife鈥? Unfortunately, such drugs can end up ruining your 鈥渓ife鈥?or even killing you, so you must be 鈥渃areful鈥?with this 鈥渓ife鈥? Sex is one of the ultimate goals of this 鈥渓ife鈥?..but may end up being with people you may or may not like or ever see again...which may lead STDs...which nowadays, unfortunately, could actually kill you. But hey, if you don鈥檛 do these things...you 鈥渄on鈥檛 have a life鈥?..right?

...besides, what else would you do?

Spend your days and nights on Y!A R&S mocking those foolish, hypocritical, judgmental Christians who have no life...but claim that life in Christ is the one and only truly soul-satisfying life?

That鈥檚 no 鈥渓ife鈥? though...either...

...IS IT?

So, what then...does it really mean to 鈥渉ave a life鈥?

for one to know the answer to your question they must have already laid their life down.

To be happy with yourself, and the people you surround yourself with. Reach your goals, give to others, smile.

All these things seem pretty over rated and sometimes unattainable. But they are within reach, if you really want them.

Sometimes, these things may be socially unacceptable, but not necessarily wrong.

To have a purpose.

To be able to enjoy life.

Life is short - we are soon forgotten - what we build is soon gone - do right in service of God and our fellow humans - have fun.

Imagine yourself in say 30 years thinking 'I wish i'd have done .....' see what happens.
In the meantime much of life is learning about making tomorrow a little different from today or yesterday, and learning from the experiences and the people that cross your path.
