My fat girlfiend?

My girlfriend has gained 35 pounds over the past 9 months. During those months, I told her very kindly that her eating habit was not good and she should eat healthier but it was to no avail.

Today after I saw her eating a Big Mac at our apartment I yelled out "Stop eating all the junk food because the girl I first met was athletic and very attractive now turned into a coach potato and a slob. You are ugly." She, not surprisingly started crying in our bedroom and locked the door. I know what I said was harsh but I hope hoping that she realizes the health risks of her eating so unhealthy. I said what I said because I care about her and want her to change her ways. What should I say when she leaves our room?

Should I dump her if she does not change.... it is getting hard to be with her at her current weight.... I don't want to ruin my reputation in front of my friends.

Well you sound like a bad guy. You could have been nicer to her about it.

You definitely could have handled it a lot better. Who are you to judge her eating habits. It's one thing to be concerned but to refer to her as ugly and a slob is cruel.

You really should have just started adjusting her eating habits together, collectively. Stay in for dinner and make something healthy with her. Don't emphasize the fact that it's healthy or low in fat, but it's just a new recipe.

I really wish you'd learn to treat your girlfriend better.

So unsensitive to a girl's feelings. Hey, I agree with you but I don't think you went about it the right way. Maybe you should try to plan activities for the two of you that will get her out and about. Maybe you should try to look for what triggered the change in her habits. But if she doesn't change you shouldn't feel obligated to stay with her.
