WAKE UP MOMMA

She can't hear well, hasn't for a long time,
we feel as if we yell to make her understand.

She sleeps a lot, says she so tired these days,
is it tired or is it just getting to be the end.

She's ready to meet her Maker, she says,
but am I ready to let her go.

She sometimes gets lonely, she says,
even though we are right in the same room.

She is too dear to me to be lonely and tired,
but I'm still not ready to say good bye.

She sleeps, she sleeps, she sleeps,
wake up Momma, wake up!

I love that poem, been there.
My mom died in 2006 at 83. She had a stroke in 96 and I took care of her after that. She didn't like not being able to talk to her friends and family and did want to die a couple times. I was ready to say goodbye at the end because she had developed conditions that would not get better.
Getting old is tough but the alternative is worse. I pray that I have my health and senses till the day I die.

No poem from me. My momma is still with me. Lives a mile away,loves company,loves to catch a ride "any where". She will be 93 June 16. Got "ole Ather in her left knee. Slows her down quite a bit. She can be really sassy to the ladies that keep her.We go to the beauty parlor every Thursday. Neither of us think it is "time phycially to go'.

Dear Lady, you said it much better than I....for my Grandma who is now 91. I'm afraid to visit those emotions, cuz if I do I'm afraid she'll be gone.
