Falling baby?

I had a dream last night that really shook me up...

I was at some sort of social gathering and everybody was upstairs in this big banquet room or meeting hall. It was dimly lit and all the walls, floor and ceiling were made out of rough, kinda splintering wood. In the center of the room was a wide (maybe 30 ft wide) stair case that went down two flights to the bottom of the building we were in.
I entered the dream walking toward the staircase as a young attractive couple (late 20s/early 30s) just stepped onto the stair case. The woman was holding a baby and the instant I stepped toward the staircase i saw her lose grip of the baby. I tried my absolute hardest to dive and catch the baby but was frozen in mid-air. It hit the staircase hard and tumbled all the way down to the next floor. I instantly begain bawling. The wails of the poor mother and the sight of the baby's lifeless eyes is still haunting me.

any thoughts?

Well, I'm going to step on a limb...
Are you in a situation, with your family or circle of friends, where you feel that you're running interference, trying to keep the peace? Because;

1) You were clearly NOT responsible for dropping the baby! The mother lost her grip on the baby, and you, immediately, went to grab it. It's almost like you were expecting it-and yet you don't say it was a recurring dream! In an actual situation, sure, if you were close, you'd try to help. and of course, feel awful for the baby and the parents afterward, but you seem to be taking the guilt on yourself.

2)the scenario you describe-a night time, dimly lit, banquet, in a room that's falling apart, is hardly a place to bring a small child! Especially, with the staircases the way you describe them!

Are you feeling caught in the middle, feeling responsible for letting friends or family "throw the baby out with the bathwater", so to speak.

Whatever it means, you had a vivid dream that you remembered clearly-which usually means that it's time to face whatever is causing it. Just think of how you're relating to people now;are you assuming responsibility for something that's not your fault? Or, getting unusually stressed? Because it sounds like you're carrying a great load of guilt. But, you're not the one responsible-even the dream, in the midst of its horror, told you that!

wow, honey if theres anything i can say is that this is one hell of a dream. it sounds like its really frightened you. try to think back to before you went asleep
did you overhear anything like your dream like on the news ?
small things we overhear and even forget about can play on our minds during sleep and result in nightmares like yours,
to take your mind off it try watching a funny movie or reading a lighthearted book or magazine.

Omg, that's horrible. Just remember, it's JUST a DREAM! I have a lot of bad dreams too, all you can really do is try not to think about it! As for what it means, I have no clue!
