On line/Long Distance Relationships?

Right now I think I met someone pretty amazing on a chat room. We have been texting and talking for a couple of days now and I am sensible enough to know that this isn't love. I believe I like him or could like him even more.

We are not technically online dating but I am waiting for the summer to see him. He is not that far away a good 3-4 hour drive and I can handle seeing him every other weekend after that. Should I go for it? I'm hoping it will work.

Oh btw he is 18 and i am turning 17 pretty soon.

I don't think there is anything wrong with meeting him and seeing where things go, but please, be reasonable about this. He is someone online, and it is very, very easy to hide behind a computer screen and even in a phone conversation. Do not fall for the idea of this guy without first seeing the real guy and seeing how you interact with him in person. Be careful and don't go meeting him alone. You might not have noticed this, but there is something very wrong with this picture. You should not be driving 3-4 hours to go see him. He should be driving 3-4 hours to come to see you. If it's not that way, then you need to explain to him that this is the way it needs to be. If it can't be that way (for whatever reason) then you need to tell him that if he wants to meet you, he'll have to figure out a way to make it happen. How he does it is his problem, not yours. Then meet in a local public place and, if possible, have friends with you. Another couple would be nice. Then, the four of you can do things in your territory (rather than his) where you can feel safer and you have the protection of your friends.
