Terrified Jack Russell? |
Here's the deal. My parents bought this Jack Russell about 4 months ago from a breeder a few hours away. I know there are tests to give when buying a dog, and I'm positive my parents had no clue of said tests. So, upon meeting this dog, she was terrified of me. Any male figure, for that matter. It has been 4 months, and whenever I even walk in the room, she barks her head off nonstop and runs away from me until I leave the room. I've been tasked for the week to take care of this dog and she won't even let me near her. I've tried very passive actions to get her to come to me, including bribery, but she stays frantic. The only way I can get the leash on her is when she comes right out of the crate in the morning. During the day and night, it's pure luck. I have no idea what to do. If I start to get at all aggressive, she urinates and defecates everywhere (which she'll do if I don't get the leash on...) . It's getting old real fast, and I'm reaching the end of my rope. Please help! If the dog eats dry kibble, put your hands and arms in it all over the place. Touch her bowls and everything she owns. Take an old tee shirt of yours that you wore to bed last nite and put it in her crate. She'll get to associate your smell with food and good things. Above all be gentle, never raise your voice and stay at her level. Don't stare at her and just try to have her associate u with good things. Don't pet her on the head either. Some dogs have a thing about petting the head, it's a dominance thing. I wish u good luck. ignore the dog. this is wearid but, here i go........stay in a room shut all doors and windows put this dogs food next to you stay in the room the dog will get hungrey sooner or latter the will come to you for food when the dog eats pat it on the head calmly and tell it good dog |
