So im recently a John Robert Powers student, but im a little skeptical about it.?

Anyways, my friends and family have encouraged me to go pursue a job in acting and I heard an ad on the radio saying that they are holding auditions to "be in a show like Hannah Montana"..so I was really excited and I decided to call. My parents gave them my information and we had an audition the next day. Anyways we get there and im there with a room full of kids and after a speech and such and I went through the whole auditioning process, they said to call them back to find out my results. So the next day I call and they said I was accepted, so I was really excited. So my parents and I get there and we are called into a meeting with this nice blonde lady (who gave the speech and who is my talent scout) and anyways we went through this long process and then my parents had to pay 3000$ for a 30 week course..anyways it seemed a bit odd. Im having a strange gut feeling about this, I dont think its a talent agency but just a school (which is fine) but im still a little skeptical and all..

You should be more than a *little* skeptical about it. Go to www.ripoffreport.com and put JRP's name in the search field. You'll find some interesting things. Your suspicions are exactly right. They flatter and hunt up students while posing as "Talent Agents," and then spring the classes fee on you. They even stake out malls to hit up kids and parents. And guess what? They even operate under other names too.

John Robert Powers along with Babrizon are rip offs. Everyone gets chosen - but the people who pay supposedly have 'potential'.

It's a scam to take advantage of people wanting to be famous. I really hope your parents didn't pay that money. If they did, see if they can get it back. If not...well...you guys learned an expensive lesson.
