Should I pay my friend for my 'betrayal'?

One of my closest friends, Guffer Lowndes-Ffinton has found out that I have been having my wicked way with his wife. We usually meet for a dalliance in the pantry or the billiard room. We were eventually caught in Guffer's old bi-plane in the barn.
Should I just pay him, say, 拢1 million to hear no more about it and have turn a blind eye to the affair in future?

first of all, you call yourself a friend but you dont even sound sorry. secondly, you dont want to pay him as a good gesture, you just want to do it to save yourself the hassle of having to explain yourself. you were in the wrong and so was she. your 'friend' will never forgive you so you will just have tolive with yourself and hopefully you have learnt your lesson. a real friend doesnt betray the people they care for and you cant buy someones trust back. this might sound mean but you deserve it

I say old chap what happened to a good old decent "pistols at dawn".......... If you don't fancy your chances ......have a quiet word with your tailor............he should be able to rustle up a Kevlar dueling suit. Double breasted for sure!!!!

Old chap I just had to pop back in a report to you an epiphany I had while taking the Aston for a spin. You seem to have had a few mishaps lately and I realized you have a man servant problem. Any decent butler would have prevented your discovery............ so on second thoughts forget the duel ( too cold in the mornings these days), pay up , and fire your butler.......... Make sure you select a better one next time!!!

I say old bean, you really SHOULD be more careful - I mean - a man of YOUR intelligence getting caught at this sort of caper! However, knock him down to half that but invite him to watch next time. That way you'll both be happy !
