How can i tell if hereally means what he says?

I have a friend whom ive never met. We found each other online a year ago in a chat room. We have been talking to each other for a year(he is in the military) and have pretty much gotten to know each other really well. I like him a lot in fact i feel as though i have fallen for him. I told him how i felt..and he replied to me with an "I love you too" i was happy beyond belief, yet how do i know he really means what he says? Beofore this convo arose he told me about a buddy of his tellin him that he could do way better than me and that he shouldnt settle. He told me that he couldnt find a "good" pic of me to show his buddy and well i didnt know what to say...i know i can trust him..but i dont want to think that he mite just be saying "i love you too" so that i wont be mad about the whole picture thing After he said that..he asked me all kinds of questions about my future..for example, how many kids i want..why would he bother telling me about what his buddy said if it didnt bother him?

as for the whole meeting in the chatroom thing..there is nothign wrong with that cuase in fact i was careful..and i have taken it slow...it been a long time coming..and we know that neither one of us is perfect..ive taken my time ..believe me i have

How the hell would his friend know whether or not he can do better. You've been chatting for a year - he doesn't even know you.

I personally think it's completely ridiculous to think you are in love with someone you've never met. You've romanticized the situation into something that it probably isn't.

Be friends and meet him if you want. I can understand being curious about how you look - I would think you'd be wondering the same thing about him.

You guys need to slow down a little bit though.

SOME PEOPLE DO FALL HEAD OVER HEALS OVER PEOPLE THEY'VE NEVER MET. UNFORTUNATELY LOVE IS A STRONG WORD TO JUST PUT OUT THERE. HE MAY OF MISTOOK THE WORD AS THOUGH HE LOVES YOU AS A FRIEND. MAYBE IT DOES BOTHER HIM ON THE CONVERSATION BOTH OF YOU HAD. USUALLY IT'S A GOOD SIGN WHEN SOMEONE CONSULTS A FRIEND. THAT PROBABLY MEANS THAT THEY ARE SERIOUS. EMAIL HIM BACK AND CLARIFY IF HE REALLY LOVES YOU THE WAY YOU DO HIM. GOOD LUCK.

I can see what your confused. Why would he be worrying about what his buddy thinks? Relationships are iffy when you only met in a chatroom, and here is his buddy that you've never talked with telling him he's too good for you?

as for the whole "i love you" thing, i think most ppl that meet up in chatrooms, wants to love the other person and will convince them of such. not saying it wouldn't work out. my friend met her future hubby that way. they took it slow and eventually met.

so i'm saying, tell your military guy that the buddy doens't get to see your pic. but someday you hope to meet him in person :) and keep chatting and see where it goes.
