Can anyone relate?

I came straight from retail and got hired into a law firm. I know what a back stabbing co-worker is like from all those years of retail, so I shouldn't be surprised, but still some things always amaze me. I'm a file clerk on the 15th floor of 3 floors that my huge office has control over. I'm in the file room along with another girl who has been here 2 years before me. When I first met her she was ignorant and rude. She didn't like me automatically because I was new and past experiences had led her to believe that I'm going to be a bad file clerk. I started off like that, but a few months later I figured out that I wanted to keep this job. So, now i'm doing much better and everyone think so. So, a few things real quick about her: She underminds me in front of the other employees, which their opinion does matter. She talks bad about me indirectly, but still right in front of me like she's cluless. We talk and don't get me wrong I enjoy spilling my problems, but she judges me in a way...

She judges me in a way that makes me not want to talk to her at all. Like you know those people in your office that say, "Oh when I was doing it no one esle had a problem with it." She says that right in front of me! I think she doesn't realize what she's saying or maybe she does..I don't know. But I felt like it's come to the point where I have to go to my boss. I feel like i'm always being underminded by her..She judges me..She takes advantage of me with me doing some of her work. And she rules the file room becuse she's been here longer. (only 2 years)...She calls her self the supervisor, but she isn't. I don't mind helping her too much, but when she goes around telling the other secretaries of HER lawyers that i will do her work, then there is a problem. What should i do?

First thing is take out the personal aspect of it. If you are going to the boss to complain about her only talk about the things that are performance related. If you let any personal stuff into it then your credibility and your professionalism are diminished. If you can find nothing wrong with her work or performance then it is totally a personality conflict and the only thing to do is ignore her and make sure you are doing your job.
