I used to be friends with a Satanist?

She was a lot nicer than most people. She practiced witchcraft and had an alter in her room. Yet she was the funnest, funniest, most accepting, least judgemental, and one of the nicest people I ever met. She didn't believe me. Although I respected her beliefs if she would have acted evil I wouldn't have agreed with her and I would have been the first one to judge and call the cops.

So I think people can have their religious beliefs but I think it's wrong to practice them in public. Is that so wrong?

I don't think people should wear things on their heads to tell everyone what they are, I don't think they should get any priviledges, and I don't think they should get their own schools. Is that really so bad?

Freedom of religion.

They can practice in public so long as they aren't breaking other laws.

Edit: You're free not to like it. And you've got a right to express your dislike. But that doesn't change their rights.

I have befriended quite a few satanists. Pagans, Wiccans, Mormons, Jews, Jehovas, A Buddhist or two..


They've all been lovely people. I've got quite a few Christian friends who're tolerant, too.


You can't judge somebody because of their religion. You CAN judge somebody by how diligently or dramatically they practice it.

I guess I don't know much about witchcraft... but from what I know of Satanism... they're not real keen on supernatural b.s... it leans more toward rational secularism. So I'm surprised she's both Satanist and does witchcraft (which is totally fake).

Anyway... yeah, I think its strange that you want people to keep their true selves... to themselves. I don't know why you think that's "right"... can you explain? I do agree though that religions should not get special privileges.

Granted, in her case, she might be safer or better off keeping her religious practices to herself =)

you sound like you are projecting your own insecurity with your own beliefs onto other people and expecting them to live up to your own standards of being insecure with what they believe.

get over it. i wear what i like. not you, hell or high water can stop me
