Don't GrandParents often make better parents than parents make?

{Don't ya just love the English language where you don't have to worry about what's a modifier or where the dangling participals are?} Ooops, I gotta be careful: My last Posting here was Deleted 'cause 'they' said I was just 'Chatting'.
So fer god's sake, do NOT chat. Say wat ya gotta say, then GIT OUT!
But I was thinking {hey, don't laugh!} how my kids seem to be making the same mistakes I made when raising them: "Close that frig door!", and "Put those shoes away and clean up your room."
Then of course there's "Have you got your homework done? It's almost 9 o'clock and you WILL be going to bed", even though I know they giggle and whisper until 10. And I don't recall ever helping them with that deadly, dull schoolwork.
Or when the granddaughter crawls up next to me on the sofa to watch a scarey tv show, Mom chirps in and says, "Honey, don't be bothering gran'pa now. Go sit on the floor", etc. And every little suggestion is met with a "That's not the way we do things here".

Then I'm met with a smug silence when I remind them that grandparents learned a few things in the last 30 years that maybe they might take under consideration.
Which in turn reminds me that this is exactly the way I treated my parents when I was raising my own li'l brats. What goes around comes around, huh?
So how do you grandparents get thru to your kids who are raising kids?

I have 3 grandchildren and I thought the same as you and suggested several things that my daughter could do better or different in raising her kids. Then I kept them for a few days and realized (once again) that it is so much easier to give advise than to follow it. I spend as much time as I can with my grands and enjoy their company, but it is exhausting work and better left to the younger generation.

There are many grandparents raising their grandchildren now, due to their kids irresponsibility. Some are even raising great grandchild en for the same reason. Yes they do a darn good job and its not easy, but I certainly admire their courage and sacrifice. God bless them.

I try very hard not to get involved with how they are raising my grandkids but I do spoil the little devils rotten which I feel is my job, my right and my God given duty. And yup, the little farts love every minute of it!! Oh crap! I am coming close to chatting!! Okay, I will stop!!!

THEY HAVE TO MAKE THEIR OWN MISTAKES, JUST AS WE DID. I JUST MAKE SUGGESTIONS AND SOMETIMES THEY'LL HAVE A GREAT IDEA AND I THINK (TO MY SELF), MAN DOES THAT SEEM FAMILIAR.
BUT, I'VE NOTICED THAT THE OLDER I GET, THE SMARTER MY DAD WAS. IF ONLY I WOULD HAVE LISTENED THEN!!!
