Why does everyone tell me not to run away?

I have an ex-boyfriend who is really damaging to me. He got married four months after our break up but he keeps on coming back. It's hurting me. I havent seen him lately but i know sooner or later he'll come back.

On top of that i got some other inner issues going on. Im 22 and I live in San Francisco But I just want to run away to a town near by Los Angeles CA (Named Riverside). Its probably not possible to live with my family down becuase they are pretty packed but im thinking about renting a room down there hopefully near them. I'm not happy with the fact that people say it ranch like because im so used to living in the City. I also plan on hopefully meeting someone but how am i going to meet someone in a cow town lol?Even if i dont meet someone i will at least have resolved my issues and honestly thats all i want. Im not happy and havent been for a long time.

My frineds and family say "why do you have to leave just because of him?Dont leave."

What would you do?

Hi there, people are probably telling you not to run away, because unless you deal with your issues now they wont go away because you have moved to another town... they travel with you, and when you least expect it, there they all are again, ready to mess up your head.

I spent 20 years on the 'run' thinking that moving and starting afresh was going to solve my inner issues... never did, was still just as depressed and messed up in the next town...

May I suggest that the next time the ex turns up, shut the door on him... because he can only come back if he has an open invitation, and you don't want him back, so don't even go there again...

May I also suggest that you get yourself some counselling with a psychologist and work out if there are any underlying issues that need to be dealt with, and go for it... I waited until I was 34 to get my head around some of the things I was running from and it is such a waste of potential and time...:) good luck...

Why don't you try acting like an adult already?

Adults solve their problems, not run away from them.

I would say they are telling you not to leave because they think that you are stronger than that and they think that if you try hard enough you would be able to resolve your problem without running away...if your leaving just because of him...thats not so good...show him that your stronger than that...if you think you'll be happier if you move then go for it...change is always a good thing...as far as finding someone in a "cow town" i live in kentucky sweety and as far as im concerned there are people out there...there are actually alot of good small town people...most of them are nice and friendly and easy to talk to so that shouldnt be much of a problem...how i gave you the answer you needed...
