Do not believe in ghosts, but have seen one with my own eyes, and all my household too, was it real?

I am a widower with one daughter, but there are numerous poor relations, either leaving with me or staying with me, and two maiden aunts of my daughter; we were expecting a distinguished guest, from my friend's family, a young Von Altenburg. We cooked a mighty good dinner for him, and waited for him to arrive. He was extremely late - the dinner was overdone, we all famished. When he arrived, at last, he was very pale, ate nothing, and constantly stared at my daughter. He never laughed at my jokes, and was very grave. When we proposed to show his room to him, he said that he "must lay his head in a different chamber to-night." The he started talking nonsense about having an appointment in Wurtzburg cathedral, worms, went out and was gone!
Next day the news reached us about the death of young Von Altenburg.
He died the day before our meeting! Who attended our family gathering, then? Was it a ghost, a spectre? Is it possible?

And was every easily pronounceable family name taken that you have to resort to "Katzenellenbogen"...how would the invitations look like I wonder...not to mention teaching your kids to write that monstrosity when signing their names at school.

I suppose it's indeed possible. I can't say for sure one way or another as nothing like that has ever happened to me.
