Will My Economic stimulus check be forwarded to me at my new address? |
I received the 2nd letter from the IRS stating the amount and day my check would be mailed, May 30th. I Changed my address with the Post Office and its scheduled for forwarding on June 2. I spoke w/ someone from the IRS and they said that it would not be forwarded, that the post office would send it back, however, I spoke w/ the post office and they said they WOULD forward it to me! So has anyone else been in a similar situation and had the check forwarded to them? They will forward it unless the envelop says do not forward. What they do is put the new address on there and send it back to the IRS and then the IRS will mail it out to you again at the new address. Companies can put do not forward so they can update their address system. I worked at a place that did this often. It may delay you getting the check but you will eventually get it. |
