Going to see my step-daughter ??

We have been planning a trip for a couple of months now to go see my 13 year old step-daughter. I havn't seen her in eight years and am REALLY looking forward to it!! I was checking my e-mail tonight and her mother IM'd me and we started talking. She said that my SD was a little nervous about "meeting" everyone again. Then she made a comment about how she (the mom) wasn't looking forward to haning out with the ex-inlaws (whom I adore). I do not want this whole meeting to be hard on my step-daughter, but I know her gandparents would be broken hearted to not be allowed to come!! I don't know what to do, and I hate being caught in the middle???? Any advice??

All of you stay in a hotel and only show up at your step daughter's house when specifically invited.

There is obviously a problem going on and this may be her mother's way of shielding you from it, while allowing you to spend time with your step daughter.

Just keep a cheerful and positive attitude while you are with your step daughter. See the sights. And if there isn't that much to see, rent some movies from the hotel and make sure it has a great pool complete with umbrellas, tables, chairs, loungers, etc.

Make the hotel your headquarters. That way, you won't risk making the grandparents feel odd.

It'd work out for the best all the way around, if you ask me.
