Would this be considered an OCD?

Whenever I get email and want to forward it to others, I can't do it without first editing it. In fact, I spend so much time doing this that I hardly get to share them with others.

I feel I must correct spelling and punctuation, as well as getting rid of all indicators that it's something that has been forwarded to me. Don't misunderstand...I forward the email, but only after it has been cleaned up. It's very rare that I forward a power point slide show because if there are mistakes, I don't know how to edit them.

In the past, I've been a school spelling champion, a proofreader, and an online text editor. Could these things contribute to my need to feel that I'm not sending out imperfect mail? For me, it's so annoying trying to read our local newspaper filled with bloopers and blunders, I had to stop having it delivered. Is there hopeful help that doesn't require medications?

Your past accomplishments could definitely be getting in the way of forwarding emails. You might need to find a way to relax and understand that email isn't so uptight as the business world.

Are you stressed? You sound like a person who needs to be in control. The need for control comes out in the little things we do (editing e-mail). Usually we need the control when we feel like we don't have it. Take this talent and apply for a job at your local newspaper :)

That does sound like an OCD behavior but it doesnt sound like its affecting your life in any significant way so I wouldnt worry about it.

I dont think you have OCD I think you are just a perfectionist. And they dont make meds for that
